April was a pretty uneventful month if you consider how May went. I will begin by saying that May started out okay. School was coming to an end for me, Jay and Aiden. I was starting to feel better but still throwing up regularly and Jay was doing well at work and school. Thankfully, Heavenly Father was watching out for me as I finished finals at UNC and I was able to pull off 3 A’s and a C for the semester. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. Jay, as always, did swimmingly at school and continues to maintain a 4.0 GPA and still has time to work and be a family man. I sure do LOVE you babe!
Well literally the weekend following finals week and the weekend of Mother’s Day. Jay decides to wake up sick as a DOG. Now if any of you know Jay, he is rarely sick and in the nearly 7 years we have been married he has been sick maybe 2 times. Well as I was waiting for him to get up and let me sleep in on Mother’s Day, he looks over at me and tells me how sick he is and how much his stomach hurts. So I get up, still sick pregnant mind you and get Aiden and I breakfast and then check on Jay. He is looking pretty bad and begs me to go to the drug store to get some kind of X-lax drink. I go, begrudgingly and in the mean time his mom calls and tells him no way should he take that drink and he should rest. So when I got home he says he better not take it. Well to make a long story short, Jay stays home that day from church while Aiden and I go. I thankfully and miraculously make it the whole 3 hours and call Jay to see if he would be joining me and Aiden at his parents for dinner. He says there is no way he can go he is too sick. This is also strange because he never turns down a meal with his parents. He must be sick.
I get home a bit later after eating and discover Jay is doing better... maybe and he still looks terrible. We head to bed early and he wakes up still not feeling well but decides to head to work. I tell him no way because by this time the pain is mainly on his RIGHT side. I suspect appendicitis but he says no. I say well too bad I will make an appointment for you at least. So he heads to the doctor and sure enough by the end of the day he is in surgery to have his appendix taken out.
So Jay ended up spending 24 hours in the hospital and came home to recover (Funny side note: I didn’t get sick that whole time, meaning I was able to be upright and not puking during this ordeal but as soon as we walked in the door from the Hospital, I was back to throwing up). He had to take a week off work, doctor’s orders, and take it easy. This was fun…NOT because I was sick and puny and he was sick and puny and poor Aiden was our little errand boy. He certainly got good at making toast. What a sweet boy we have. Jay is fine now but the surgery took a lot out of him and he now has more empathy for me and my soon to be c-section pain. We are just so grateful his appendix didn’t burst and we had so much family to help out.
Next on our fun May adventures was Aiden finishing preschool and graduating. Aiden’s preschool put together a very cute Nursery Rhyme program where nearly every child recited from memory the nursery rhyme they were assigned. Aiden did beautifully. He was so excited to wear the graduation cap and walk across the stage they had and to be the center of attention for a few moments.
Aiden did wonderful in preschool this year and learned so much. His teachers were wonderful and kind. At parent teacher conferences, I was informed Aiden is an ideal student. He is both attentive and curious and is happy to help and play with anyone. He is a quick learner and will be missed. I was beaming because, although I know that Aiden is ALL of these things and MORE, he is also a boy. I felt like maybe I was doing something right as a mom. I am so grateful for his sweet and energetic spirit in our home and in my life. He is truly a blessing from Heavenly Father.

Man girl- I sure hope you are not sick and throwing up still. That makes for a very LONG nine months. Scary stuff with Jay. I can only begin to imagine your frustration with him on Mother's Day. At least he is ok and still around, uh? Knock on wood- we have not had to have stitches in this house yet, however I am waiting for the day. Spencer did hit his head once and had to have it 'super' glued together, the doctor told me that chicks dig scars. :)
Can't wait for an update... just sayin'! You've got a super cute new addition and a proud big brother at home- can't wait to read about it!
