Camping @ Jackson Lake

This past weekend, the weekend before the 4th of July, we went to Jackson Lake with our good friends Brad and Alicia for a second year. We had tons of fun and really enjoy this annual trip. This year Aiden, Alicia, and I went up a night before Brad and Jay so we could get some extra time at the lake and more time with Alicia's parents who were also there in their AWESOME 5th wheel.
Alicia and I took Brad's truck up with most of the camping gear and were loading up right before the storm hit but not too much before because Alicia and I were drenched while tying a tarp down on top of all the gear. It was tons of fun...NOT!!! But we made it to the site just fine and hung out in the 5th wheel where I learned how to play Hearts while it poured outside. Aiden got a little restless and at the first sign of sun we headed out to play some baseball.

Saturday we had a yummy breakfast and hung out at the beach until the boys arrived. Aiden made lots of friends with the kids at the beach and I got some reading in and of course, a BAD sunburn. I had been making fun of Jay because he was applying and reapplying sunscreen and I made fun of him and then I got roasted. All I care about is that Aiden didn't get burned. We hung out at the beach most of the day with only a break for lunch and then back to the beach until dinner time. It was a wonderful day with no rain or storms, which is quite unusual this year. Jay and Brad played Frisbee in the water for hours and Aiden built sand castles and holes with random kids at the beach. It was perfect. Dinner was wonderful. Jay made some amazing fajitas and we ate it with some of Jays' amazing homemade salsa. Thank you Honey! That night after dinner Aiden begged me to put him to bed but our site was not close enough to Brad and Alicia's site to let him go to bed in the tent by himself. So he went to bed in Brad and Alicia's tent and fell asleep in 2 minutes flat with his arms behind his head. So adorable. I love my little man.Saturday night we slept well until Aiden had a bit of an accident and then we just hung out in the wee hours of the mornings until it was okay to be awake. We then had an amazing breakfast of homemade french toast and some yummy North Dakota sausage. It was excellent. We finished the morning off by going to the beach for an hour or so and then left. I am so glad that we were able to go and with good friends.
